Ribble Valley Mod Weekender.

Clitheroe was overtaken by Vespas and lambrettas over the weekend. It was the Ribble Valley Mod weekender and over 500 scooters honked their horns as they paraded through town on Saturday. Other events included various mod influenced bands playing in some of the local cafes and pubs and a mod market set up in the Rose & crown car park. I personally don’t really know my Mods from my Rockers, though I do feel a little better educated now! I took my camera uptown and got quite a few shots so this blog post was born. Scooter porn. πŸ™‚ Scuse my ignorance on the subject but aren’t they fantastic.

By complete coincidence I had made these cute Pink Vespa expresso cup candles a few weeks earlier. This weekend turned out to be the perfect time to sell them….and they were snapped up from my friends shop Chillimoon.Happy days.:))

Hope you’ve had a fab weekend. I’m spending the rest of it chillin.:)

Girls Night Out ~ Paint Pot.

It was not that long ago that a Friday Night meant going out round town for a few drinks and a dance. These days I’m more likely to be found curled up with a dvd ……but last Friday I was out painting pottery!

Our table.:)

Paint Pot is situated in the Swan Courtyard in Clitheroe and it is here that a friend organized a girls night out. All we needed to do was bring ourselves and something to drink. Preferably a bottle of wine or two. πŸ™‚

This ‘Paint your Own’ Pottery studio is used to catering for family fun but not many people know they hold Ladies nights too. There were eight of us in our group and we had a table to ourselves, decorated prettily but practically with a disposable union jack tablecloth. Our painting pinnys were tied to the chairs, in bright yellow bows. πŸ™‚

Looking fetching in our bright yellow aprons. πŸ™‚

We all got to choose which piece of pottery we each wanted to paint. There was plenty of choice. Mugs, tiles, butter dishes, teapots, tree baubles. You name it, they have it. πŸ™‚

For a few hours we had a fun time chatting, painting and the odd glass of wine. It wasn’t expensive either. The cost of your pot is taken out of a ten pound deposit you pay beforehand plus a Β£2.50 fee for the evening.

At the end of the evening we left our creations to be fired. We can pick them up soon. Can’t wait ! The dogs bowl is mine by the way.

We all had a fantastic girls night out….and there was still time to head to the pub after. Thank you Paint Pot for a great evening. :))

A peek inside the Cake ‘Ole.

Finding ourselves with an hour left on the parking in Skipton on Saturday, we bobbed inside the ‘Cake ‘Ole ‘ , in  the Craven Arcade for a quick spot of lunch. Having walked past the cafe a few times before with a look of longing, I was excited to finally take a look inside. Vibrant colours and quirky decor ( a zebra sticking out of the wall, I ask you πŸ™‚ ) greeted us. The whole place is a feast for the eyes !

Everywhere you look there is something a little different, a little unusual , to make you smile. πŸ™‚

Our table wore wellies.....

Half vintage tea room/half Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory ~ the Cake’Ole has that kind of feeling about it. I wouldn’t have been surprised if Mr Wonka himself had poured the tea. πŸ™‚ Instead we had some friendly waiting on staff.

This quirky cafe is most definatly about the cake…….but they do a mean panini too. Wil had the spicey cheese with red pepper ( he loved it) and I had a tuna and cheese filling. I spotted they had Mr Fitzpatricks cordials so I chose the rubarb & rosehip which is a firm fave of mine.

We could not leave without trying a mini cake each. πŸ™‚  Wil sampled  the Carrot cake and I had the red velvet. Don’t they look cute! Tasted heavenly too.

I will most certainly visit again next time I’m in Skipton. There’s lots of creative combinations of milkshakes to try out. Peanut butter and jelly anyone?.

Names for a black labrador. :)

After a good eight months as a dog free household, we finally feel the time is right to welcome another happy hound into our home. πŸ™‚

image via pinterest.

We had kind of decided to look for a smaller dog. I guess our hearts belong to labradors though as a visit to see a gorgeous black lab called Ruby and her eight bundles of joy soon convinced us other wise. Here is the little chappie we will be taking home at the end of October!

I’m excited but nervous as I’ve never looked after a pup before. Wil already had our lovely lab Jake when we got together, so I never experienced the sleepless nights, toilet training and chewing of furniture. Have all that to look forward to!

So we are currently puppy proofing the house and thinking of names. At the moment we are both liking Hugo,Dash and Rueben. But still open to suggestions……..

What names for a black labrador do you like?

Roll up, roll up for the carnival is in town. The Carnival Of Curiosities was just one of the attractions at the Blackburn Heritage Festival over the weekend. Myself and a couple of friends prepared to be amazed and astounded as we wandered round the Victorian style fairground. Here are a few pictures from the day. πŸ™‚

It was also nice to see that there is more to Blackburn than just the Mall. If you ever visit you might want to look out for Decades Vintage Fashion on Lord street, No11 Town Hall street ( quirky new gift shop featuring ‘Dead good’ jewellery by Nicola Hebson) and Liz ‘N’ lils vintage style tea room, in what used to be ‘The Grapes’ on Northgate.

I just wish I had had a go on that Helterskelter!

September ~ Photo an hour.

On Saturday I joined in with Janey’s Photo an hour challenge. It so happened that my day was spent shopping ( and catching up over a few drinks) in Manchester with friends, so most of my pics were taken in the city for a change. The idea is to take a photo on the hour, every hour, and post on Instagram or blog or both. πŸ™‚

8am ~ What does one wear for a day out in Manchester? Decisions! Decisions!

9am ~ Watering this little beauty. Think it was thirsty!

10am ~ Arwen and I on the train, not long into our journey to Manchester.

11am ~ Arrived in the big city! This is a view of the footy museum if your interested.

12pm ~ We’ve met our friend Gill and made our way to the canal side to Dukes 92 for lunch. On the wine already! The waterside venue is quite nice on a sunny day.

1pm ~ View of the Hilton from Dukes. We have plans to nip there for cocktails later. πŸ˜›

2pm ~ Shopping. I wish I could wear heels like this…..but I would soon be on the deck!

3pm ~ Trying on a sparkley blue jumper from Quiz, which I did end up buying.

4pm ~ Still shopping.Think were in Next here. Loving the blingy lights.

5pm ~ In the Q for Cloud 23 , which is the bar in the heavens of the Hilton on Deansgate.

6pm ~ Arwen and I with our cocktails, Cloud23.

7pm ~ Lost track of time and forgot to take a photo at seven, so here are our cocktails. Notice Arwen also has a Hot Chocolate.:)

8pm ~ Last photo. Its the train station. My phone battery is giving up so I call it a day on the pics. It was a lovely day out with friends, hopefully repeated soon.:)

Where do you like going shopping?

Sad times at Manchester Dogs Home.

manchester dogs home.

As an animal lover, I couldn’t not mention the sadness I feel for all the poor dogs who have perished in the arson attack on Manchester Dog’s Home. It is heartbreaking and quite impossible to comprehend why someone would want to harm innocent animals. Selfless people risked their lives in trying to get the dogs out and happily many were rescued. These are being looked after and an online appeal has already raised 1 million. Just goes to show there are a lot of good people out there too. If you have not come across it already, here is the link if you would like to donate.

Thanks for reading. ^^

52 Lists ~ Morning Routine.

My Morning Routine differs, depending on my shifts at work. I do a mixture of earlies, lates and mids so sometimes I don’t know where i’m at at all. I guess I could give you an idea of a typical early morning. Here goes!

5-15am. Slinky the cat decides its her breakfast time and starts jumping all over us and generally being annoying. Her worst trick though is attacking my phone, which is also my alarm. She often bats it, sending it flying across the room.

5-30am. My alarm goes off. I hate getting up straight away though and I have it on snooze ( much to the annoyance of my other half!), but we are so annoyed with Slinky by now that one of us will fly downstairs to feed her. You may wonder why we don’t shut the bedroom door? Its because she still likes to get us up early by mowing and scratching the carpet!!! Still, we love her as she is such a cutie. πŸ™‚

5-50am. Get up properly ( after a couple of snoozes), shower and get ready for work.

6-20am. Have some strong black coffee and breakfast, usually cereal. On earlies I sometimes end up eating two breakfasts. Toast at work later on. Very bad I know! Watch some breakfast telly and I may even check some social media. Well don’t we all!

6-45am. Walk to work. The ten minute walk wakes me up properly, and I’m almost bright and bushy tailed by the time I get there.

I think our morning routines will change again soon anyway , as we are hoping to welcome a new edition to our home in a couple of months. A dog….or perhaps a puppy. Excited and nervous! X

Liebster Award :-D

So I am a very lucky blogger indeed as I have been awarded a Liebster Award by the lovely ‘ Girl In Brogues’ herself, Saskia. The award is really all about getting to know some of your fave bloggers.:) The idea is to answer a mini questionaire written by whoever nominated you, then nominate a few blogs you follow to answer your own set of questions. I would just like to thank the wonderful Josie and also the lovely Lisa for doing the honor of giving me this award in the past. I’m sorry I never got round to posting about it until now. Pure laziness on my part!

Anyway here are Saskia’s questions and my answers. πŸ™‚

1. What did you want to be when you were a kid? ~ I wanted to work in a library and I wanted to write. So having this blog is like a dream come true. πŸ™‚
2. If you were in a police movie, who would be your crime-fighting partner? ~ I’m thinking Sealy Booth from Bones. Ha I loved that actor in Buffy the Vampire Slayer too.
3. What are your favourite flowers? ~ I love most flowers. At the moment I’m loving dahlias, if they could speak they would say ‘Autumns round the corner, but summers still here’.
4. What is your favourite catchphrase? ~ Naughty but Nice!
5. Pick a TV programme – Who Do You Think You Are?, Eastenders or Broadchurch? Broadchurch. ~ I’m not a soap fan but I love a good drama. When Broadchurch was on, I was seriously addicted.
6. Describe your perfect evening gown. ~ I’m not really an evening gown type of person. Anything long swamps me as i’m so short.
7. What are you better at, fibbing or breaking bad news? ~ I’m really bad at both!
8. You have to pick an outrageous outfit to wear for Halloween – what would it be? ~ With my mad mop, I’m thinking Cousin It. πŸ™‚
9. Pick another blogger and tell us why you love them. ~ Goodness there are so many. I shall pick Mary from Adventures with the blonde coyote as I love reading about her travels around America in her teardrop caravan with her two dogs.
10. What’s your breakfast cereal? ~ When i’m being good its special K with added blueberries but most of the time its coco pops. πŸ™‚
11. Who’s your favourite TV chef? ~ Simon Rimmer on Sunday Brunch.

I love blueberries with my cereal. πŸ™‚

And now I would like to award the Liebster Award to the following bloggers and leave ten questions for you guys to hopefully answer.Yes you guys…or girls and one guy!
