Wow – haven’t seen a little owl in more than twenty years. I keep disturbing an owl, I think tawny, at Gait Barrows, but it’s always gone in an instant.
It was amazing seeing them. Haven’t been out before 8am for a long time so maybe that helped! Saw lots of rabbits too. I once was picking up after Hugo under a tree and looked up and there was a Tawny looking down on me. 😅
We hear Tawnies all through the winter and occasionally see them, but if there are Little Owls here, I haven’t seen them.
I’m guessing this is up near the hall, they’re getting quite well known now. How many did you see?
Yes, I saw two. 🙂
I love owls! 🙂
Me too. First sighting of Little Owls for a long time so super chuffed.x
A lovely early morning walk, love the owls and the rabbit – well worth going out early for 🙂 I considered going out early myself this morning but had a late night last night so decided to wait until later – 12.35pm now and I’m just about to do a local one with Poppie 🙂
Have a lovely walk. X
Amazing photos of little owls. I’ve only ever seen tawnies and barnies. Just shows – being an early bird reaps its rewards. Well caught! x
Absolutely. 🙂 X
Love little owls, we have one on the farm opposite our house.
Oh lovely, it must be great having one live so close. 🙂
Your lucky day. Have you bought a lottery ticket?
Haha, no, should do maybe.
However you were just as lucky with your stone chat and pheasant family. 🙂
Saw the same Stonechat on the wall this morning, still kicking myself for not recognising it Monday.
I know a little quarry up on Longridge Fell where Little Owls nest, must have a look in the next day or so. I realise I’ve missed so much of life and nature the last two months, it has all passed me by.
Looking forward to you posting more walks. You find some good ones!
Our plan for the wknd when my other half isn’t working is a circular walk from Mereclough near Burnley.
Love the owl photos! 😊 Well worth an early start. X
Definitely. Thank you. 🙂 X
What a lovely walk and how wonderful to see those little owls and the bunny too:)
It was a magical walk. 🙂
Fantastic spotting the Little Owl, been looking for Owls on my daily walks but no luck this year
Thank you, I was very lucky. Haven’t seen a little owl since I was a kid.
same here
So that’s why people get up so early. You miss the hot weather (very hot these last few days) and you see bunnies and owls! Great owl photos, so cool.
Thank you. It’s easier walking now ( especially with a dog) that you can go out more than once a day. Lots more wildlife out early doors for sure. 🙂
Those little owls are lovely. L M Montgomery talks about Queen Anne’s lace in the Anne books and I never knew it was cow parsley!
You learn something new everyday. X
A lovely early morning walk & such a lot to see & capture on camera. Of course the owl would have to be my favourite. Don’t worry Hugo, you are still up at the top too! I’ve a thing about birds of prey, but we’ve not seen owls here in Victoria, but when we lived in N.S.W. we had an owl occasionally & a tawny frogmouth for a time & it was so exciting. Your wild flowers must be amazing this year. Thanks for sharing, take care, stay safe & huggles.
Just looked up Tawny Frogmouth. Wow, they are so cute. Xx
Those owls have made my early morning browse!
Yay. X 🙂
Isn’t it lovely to observe the beautiful nature around us. Hugo looks like he’s happy to be out and about. xx
Hugo is always happy when he’s walking, eating or sleeping. A man of simple tastes. 😘X
Bunnies AND owls – wow! Fabulous.
Yes, so lucky. 🙂 X
It certainly was worth getting up for!
Definitely! They are so small but beautiful. X
I have never seen a Little Owl, I would love to see one. It was definitely worth getting up early for!
It’s a long time since I’ve seen one, so seeing two together was amazing. X
Ah how lovely, it’s always a treat to see an owl!
It’s lovely. Think they are there most mornings. X
