Somehow I didn’t get up to my local reserve in July, but I have had two wanders round Salthill Quarry Nature Reserve recently. Lots of wildflowers still blooming, including a couple of ‘ new to me’ ones. I also took part in the Big Butterfly Count 🦋 , there is still time to submit your sightings. 2020 has been a bumper year for people taking part apparently.

Have a lovely weekend. 🦋
Great nature shots, I love the pink of the Rosebay Willowherb. I’ve also seen a lot of tortoiseshell butterflies this summer, it must be the year for them 🙂
Last year there was that influx of Painted Lady butterflies. Only seen one this year. Nice to see so many tortoishells though. X
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely photos. I was walking in a limestone grassland area yesterday and there were a few flowers that I didn’t know the names of that you have identified for me here, so thank you!
That’s great. 🙂 I am getting better at identifying flowers. My books and there’s an app too that I have on my phone now, I Naturalist, really helps. 🙂
Butterfly counting sounds a great occupation in these troubled times, Sharon 🙂 🙂
Bet you have some pretty ones in Portugal. X
We do, but I can never get them to keep still 🙂 🙂
I had a nosy and you have swallowtails which are so rare here. Lucky lucky you. 🙂
Another lovely walk & photos Sharon. I’ve been a bit behind on blog reading & had missed this post. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
Thanks for the link up. X 🙂
Lovely photos of a typically Norhern English walk. Thank you!
Thanks for reading. 🙂
The pleasure was mine!
Lovely flowers and butterflies, but that rook looks scary!
Haha, it wasn’t the only took, one of quite a few. A bit like the movie ‘ The Birds’ 😉
Lovely photos x
Thanks Christine. X
Lovely flower pics, always a hit with me.
Thanks Alison. X
Great pictures here.
Thank you.
I saw some beautiful peacock butterflies on our walk yesterday. They were busy on some thistles, so I got to have a really good look at them. X
I haven’t seen many peacocks this year. They are such vibrantly colourful ones too.x
This looks like a wonderful place to visit. I haven’t been to a nature reserve for ages.
Beautiful photos!
Aw , thank you. X
What a great place for a walk. I don’t think I’ve seen any Painted Ladies this year, but the few butterflies I have seen have mainly been Peacocks, Commas and Small Toirtoiseshells.
I have only seen one comma this year. X
Brilliant diversity of flowers. Lets hope the year has been a bumper one for butterflies too! I’ve never seen Autumn Gentian. I think I might need to seek it out.
It’s fond of limestone soil so maybe you will see some in a quarry kind of area.
Here’s hoping!
