Spellbinding Screen Witches.

Halloween is on the horizon, so I thought I would compile a list of those spellbinding sorcerers , the winsome and the wicked, who have appeared on the big screen ( and the small screen) over the years. Do you remember these magical movies and tv shows?

witches the craft

Harry Potter Films. We all know and love the good witches who passed through Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Ribble Valley Mod Weekender.

Clitheroe was overtaken by Vespas and lambrettas over the weekend. It was the Ribble Valley Mod weekender and over 500 scooters honked their horns as they paraded through town on Saturday. Other events included various mod influenced bands playing in some of the local cafes and pubs and a mod market set up in the Rose & crown car park. I personally don’t really know my Mods from my Rockers, though I do feel a little better educated now! I took my camera uptown and got quite a few shots so this blog post was born. Scooter porn. πŸ™‚ Scuse my ignorance on the subject but aren’t they fantastic.

a Carnival of Curiosities in Blackburn.

Helter Skelter :)
Helter Skelter πŸ™‚

Roll up, roll up for the carnival is in town. The Carnival Of Curiosities was just one of the attractions at the Blackburn Heritage Festival over the weekend. Myself and a couple of friends prepared to be amazed and astounded as we wandered round the Victorian style fairground. Here are a few pictures from the day. πŸ™‚

It was also nice to see that there is more to Blackburn than just the Mall. If you ever visit you might want to look out for Decades Vintage Fashion on Lord street, No11 Town Hall street ( quirky new gift shop featuring ‘Dead good’ jewellery by Nicola Hebson) and Liz ‘N’ lils vintage style tea room, in what used to be ‘The Grapes’ on Northgate.

Sea Air ~ Grange- over- Sands.

During our recent little break away to Red bank farm campsite near Morecambe, we enjoyed a couple of days out. I thought I would post a few pictures to show you where we went. On Sunday we took the car and made our way up the coast to the Edwardian resort of Grange Over Sands. Grange is a picturesque town with a promenade looking out on to salt marsh meadows and the sea beyond. Local delicacies include Salt marsh Lamb & beef and Morecambe Bay Potted shrimps. The town is only 7 miles from Windermere, yet used to be in Lancashire.

I loved the quaint little stores here and had a good look round the gift shops. I mentioned the dreaded word ‘Christmas shopping’ only once and it was enough to make my other half sulk. Typical that I found ‘potential presents’ ….but was firmly discouraged from buying any. That didn’t stop me from treating myself though. πŸ˜‰

As we headed down to the sea front, we saw a sign advertising an Arts & Crafts fair called Art on the Prom. Sure enough an abundance of stalls were set up along the promenade , against the most scenic of backdrops.

Apparently the event is held every last weekend of each month over summer. The last one will be at the end of September. The August fair had the perfect weather as you can see. πŸ™‚

Bonjour Le Tour ~ Muker & Buttertubs.

So ok I might not know my Kittels from my Cavendishes, yet it was still a wonderful experience watching the Tour de France in Yorkshire over the weekend. We camped with friends in the picturesque village of Muker which lies at the foot of the Buttertubs pass. The first stage of the iconic race battled to the top for the coveted King of the Mountains polka dot jersey. By the time we had trudged all the way up there with kids and push chairs, we felt like Kings Of the Mountains ourselves. πŸ™‚ The atmosphere was fantastic! Here are some pictures from our weekend. πŸ™‚2014-07-05 16.04.40

A little Camping trip ~ Appletreewick ( Yorkshire Dales).

Happy Campers. :)
Happy Campers. πŸ™‚

Summers here so we thought we would dust down the tent and head for the Yorkshire Dales. We stayed at Howgill lodge campsite about half an hours walk from Appletreewick. Its a little site we have frequented before as it isn’t to far away and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous. And the local pubs in the village aren’t bad either. πŸ™‚

Here are some pictures of the Craven Arms which along with the villages other pub, The New Inn, is on the Real Ales Trail. As you can see The Craven has its own homage to the Tour De France which shall be departing from Yorkshire next weekend…
The dish on the right is Wils supper one night ~ pigeon with beetroot rosti and wild mushrooms. Sorry my veggie blogger friends.

Appletreewick has another campsite too called Masons Farm which I love nosying round as it has a vintage airstream van and an old citroen that serves coffee at weekends to the campers. We have stopped here in the past too.

Food for thought evening…

2014-06-14 17.28.46

To raise money to send two scouts, Tom and Charlie , to the 23rd World scout Jamboree in Japan next year, St Pauls Church in Clitheroe held a fund raising evening on saturday night. As the footy was on later I thought it would be a good way of getting the girls ( and their little girls πŸ™‚ ) together for a few drinks and some family fun.

2014-06-14 17.22.32

The evening consisted of a delicious vegetarian two course meal that my friend Janet thought up and cooked, as well as children’s games, a tombola, live music, a quiz and an auction of some amazing looking prize hampers.

The food I must say was absolutely yummy. Compliments to the chefs! Although I’m not a vegetarian I love veggie food and the menu did not disappoint. πŸ™‚

52 Lists ~ Things To Do This Summer. :-D

Goodness I’m a wee bit late starting the 52 Lists challenge. Its week 23 already ( nearly half way through) but as I so enjoy reading Louisa’s and Janet’s 52 Lists posts on their blogs Duck In A Dress and Words That Can Only Be Your Own , I thought I won’t be shy, I’l join in too. πŸ™‚ After all my family Surname is actually Lister so it seems its meant to be ……….

So anyway thats my first list done ( Hurrah!), I wonder how much of it I will achieve…. What will you be getting up to this Summer?

Looking back : Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix. :)

I’m reblogging an old post today……about the time I got to mingle with the stars at Cannes. Well kind of ! x

sunshine and celandines

Imagine a film festival with a backdrop of sun, sand, sea and Palm tree’s and there you go,you’ve thought up the gorgeous Cannes Film Festival in the South of France. The sixty sixth annual Festival de film will be held from the 15th -26th May 2013 ,with the delightful β€˜Amelie’ actress Audrey Tatou hosting the opening and closing ceremony’s. I have always loved the glamour of Cannes and back in 2009 myself, Wil and a couple of friends and their boys enjoyed a holiday in nearby St Raphael in a hot and sunny May. Of course we were up for a bit of star spotting! Firstly though here are a few shots of vintage Cannes. πŸ™‚

Did my first Craft Fair of the year at the wknd , taking my teacups and other bits and bobs to the Artisan Market in Clitheroe. Really enjoyed it and got to buy lots of prezzies for upcoming birthdays, Mothers day etc. Fairs are fab places for purchasing unique gifts I always find. πŸ™‚

Loving loving Audrey Hepburn on Pinterest and i’m delighted that i finally managed to post her Filmography on my little blog. πŸ™‚

Which leads me neatly on to this Eurostar advert for Paris ( Audrey made lots of movies in The City of Light ) that apparently is five months old now, but I’ve only just clocked it. Showing the Quirky side to the French Capital, I find myself slightly in love with the taxidermy museum featured at the end.

Have you ever used the Eurostar?

Oh and Happy First Day of Spring!

Bye for Now x
