Hurrah for Macmillan Coffee Mornings ! Not only are they a brilliant and social way to raise money for a fantastic cause, they are also pure heaven for those of us with a sweet tooth. This morning I dropped in at my friend Nicola’s Macmillan Coffee morning…and stuffed myself with cake. Nicola , who is a Queen Baker ( as well as a busy Mum of 4! ) made all these goodies. 🙂
Our hostess got some recipe inspiration from the Macmillan Coffee Morning Recipe Page, which features quite a few recipes contributed by celebrities , such as Julie Walters and Amanda Holden.
Nicola was sent a Coffee Morning Kit when she signed up to host this event, and this included table cloths, bunting & cake toppers etc, as well as ideas for fund raising games and raffles. She had such a successful morning that she raised an amazing £270!
You can host a Macmillan Coffee Morning whenever you like, and help raise funds to support people with cancer. The website is Here. 🙂
Thursday is the day I list five things I have enjoyed or appreciated over the past week. Its my Thursday Favourites. 🙂
Lush Charity Hand & Body Cream Pot.
I have almost finished this tiny pot of Hand Cream which I bought from Lush back in January. Wondering if they are still selling them as like all Lush products it smells absolutely divine. Almond oil, cocoa butter, ylang ylang oil and geranium oil combine in the heavenly fragrance. Its fab on your skin and 100% of proceeds go to good causes. 🙂 I just need a larger pot!
Vegan Baked Goods.
I’m ashamed to say I have never tried any vegan cakes …. until last weekend. A friend baked the amazing Chocolate Cherry Cake below plus a very tasty banana and oat loaf. Both were delicious! I guess I always presumed it would be impossible to make a yummy cake that didn’t contain milk, butter and eggs. Thanks for proving me wrong Janet. 🙂
I have decided to give up chocolate for Lent though so no more chocolate cakes for me for a while. I was inspired to after reading a post over on Robin’s blog Rhythm &You. I hope I keep to it. Wish me Luck for I am a chocaholic!
My Blog Roll is getting bigger! There are so many blogs I love to read now, I hardly have time to read an actual book! Not sure this is a good thing or a bad thing. 😛 Here is a list of just five ( of the many! ) blogs I enjoy dipping in to.
1) Beautiful Vintage finds and one very stylish and foxy lady 🙂 Mrs Fox Vintage Finery
2) ‘Sunshine and Positive thoughts’ ~ Tales from the finchs beak.
3) Witty Observations on life and inspiring poetry ~ City Jackdaw.
4) An american family living life like the locals in Iceland ~ The Grenier Family Iceland Experience.
5)Kitsch and colour in California ~ California Pixie.
There are so many great blogs out there and I find it fascinating to read about people’s every day lives, whether they are going about their business at home or making a do in a new country or culture.
I’m getting into eating avocados lately.Loving them sliced on medeteranean bread slathered in red pesto.Yummy!
Oscar Love 🙂
And well my favourite night of the week must have been Oscar Night. What a great time I had! Tee hee 😉 You can get your own Oscars Selfie at Uturn.com.
Have you watched any Oscar nominated films yet? Have you given up anything for Lent?
