Sky Garden ~ London.

Whilst in London, there are so many ways to discover the city, to get your bearings and enjoy the view.  Why not aim high and book a slot at  Sky Garden  in what locals affectionately call the  Walkie -Talkie.  20 Fenchurch Street is the fifth tallest building in the capital, so as you can imagine the views over London are stunning.

The Walkie-Talkie.

Sky Garden is as it’s name suggests, a garden 38 stories up !  Three tiers of lush geenery and tropical pants make up this heavenly space , with its incredible panorama.   I decided it would be the perfect venue to admire the city-scape , whilst we were down in London celebrating my sister’s Birthday. It was a fantastic post
by Laura from Tales of Adventures Big and Small that inspired me to look it into it. Not long after , my facebook feed started buzzing with folks enjoying a cocktail here, so its definitely gaining in popularity. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Birthday Girl enjoys a cocktail.

Of course another incentive to visit, is that  Sky Garden is a public garden , therefore absolutely free!  You do however need to book an hour slot and tickets become available online up to three weeks before your chosen date.

Panoramic views of London.

Our overall experience of Sky Garden was great. We had a short wait on the ground floor before being ushered to the elevator that zipped us up into the clouds with ease. ๐Ÿ™‚ On arrival we were drawn out onto the open terrace to enjoy the views and the fresh air.

Out on the terrace.

It was a lovely sunny spring afternoon so the views towards the Shard and down the Thames were suitably impressive.   After drinking in our surroundings  we enjoyed cocktails at the bar. You are not obliged to buy any food or beverages, but this was a birthday treat after all. ๐Ÿ™‚

There was ample time to explore the gardens and admire the many vistas before our hour time slot expired. Not that anyone asked us to leave, I think the staff are fairly relaxed about it.

It is possible to visit Sky Garden as a walk-in early mornings ( fancy breakfast with a view? ) and in the evenings. But make sure you do book tickets for daytime trips. Nearby tube stations include Monument and Tower.

Have you ever been to Sky Garden? I really recommend it as a great and Free thing to do in London. ๐Ÿ™‚

Eyelash Bars and Cocktail Bars : A Girly afternoon in Manchester :)

Sometimes its just nice to get away for a few hours with the girls for a spot of retail therapy and a couple of cheeky drinks ๐Ÿ˜‰

Luckilly we live only a little over an hour on the train from Manchester City Centre which is the perfect place for a girly shopping trip!

First things first, my friend Vicky wanted to try out an Eyelash Bar.As im not really one for eyelash batting beautification , I wasn’t aware that such places exist. But they do! There is one in Harvey Nicks.

At the eyelash bar there are hundreds of different styles of lashes.Vicky chose the peepers at the top of the picture below ๐Ÿ™‚

It didn’t take long for her to be adorned with her lusious new lashes. Vicky looked very glam and maybe Arwen and I would have been tempted ourselves but for the ยฃ28 price tag.Yikes!

Next stop one of my fave indulgences ‘LUSH’ for bath bombs.Scrumdiddelyumtious ๐Ÿ™‚

I went for my old favourites ‘Space Girl’ and ‘Twilight’ and couldn’t stop inhaling their gorgeous aromas for the rest of the day.Divine!

Time for a spot of lunch. Our first choice ‘The Hard Rock Cafe’ at the Printworks had an hours queauing time.It is not true that us Brits like to Q. We hotfooted it over to’ Waxy O Connors ‘instead ( also in the Printworks), which does good pub grub and we couldn’t fault it.

Love this display in Oasis ๐Ÿ™‚

After our ‘good pub grub’ we hit the shops.Manchester has all the usual High street names and plenty of designer shops too.Arwen was on the hunt for wedding clothes( she is super organized- the big day isn’t until september), unfortunatly today she didn’t find what she was looking for.It was fun having a good nosy round the stores though.:)

Hmm Giant rats performing Paul Weller songs outside Primark.Spooky!

Shopping is thirsty work thoughย  girls so I would highy reccommend you recharge with some delicous cocktails at http://www.cloud23bar.com.This is a fab cocktail bar with amazing views on the 23rd floor of ‘The Hilton’ on Deansgate. Ok here you may just have to queaue at weekends…..but it is well worth the wait. Before 4pm and you might avoid it altogether.Cloud 23 even has its own elevator with only one stop, the 23rd floor.Take me to the clouds above!

Our cocktails left to right: Vertigo, Alexander Park & Chocolate Martini. All were divine.

Clouds from Cloud 23

Enjoying our Cocktails.:)

You don’t get much change from a tenner for your cocktail…..but it did feel like we had really treated ourselves. We also noticed you can order Afternoon Tea here which did look heavenly. These have to be pre-booked though.A definate for the future I hope.;)

Really didn’t want to leave `Cloud 23 ‘but home was beckoning , via a glass of prosecco at ‘The Oust bar’ on the way to catching the train back from Salford Central.

A fabulous afternoon out was had by all.:-D
