Sunday Sevens 15th October.

Heres a quick burst of photosΒ  for Sunday Sevens. 7 pictures from the last 7 days.

We collected the wallpaper we ordered for our front room from Live Like The Boy in Colne. Brimmed full of retro, vintage and contemporary interiors, this eclectic store might just be our new go to for any finishing touches. Plus a very cute dachshund called Stanley lords over the stock. πŸ•

Whilst in Colne it was recommended we go for coffee at About Coffee , which is just a few doors down from Stanley’s shop. I overloaded on sugar when I ordered an Austrian White Hot Chocolate and Raspberry & Pistachio cake!

A night out with friend in Clitheroe took us for gin cocktails in The Parlour. I always get drawn to the teacup cocktails! Wil looks like he is wearing mascara in this photo, but actually he woke up with a mysterious black eye. Not sure which is worse!

On the last day of our holiday 2 weeks ago , Hugo hurt his paw. 😦 So its been rest and on lead walks for our labrador lad. Luckily he is now on the mend and no longer limping. This was my atempt at getting him to pose amongst the Autumn leaves. I suspect he wanted to pounce on them instead!

Meanwhile Slinky Malinki is spending most of her time in her cosy new bed. ……. and looking put out when I disturb the madam for a photo. 🐺🐾

On Friday afternoon I dropped into a friends Tile and Kitchen Showroom…..and drank far to much wine on their Open day.Β  πŸ˜‰ We did choose some new flooring for our living room though, so its obviously a good idea to keep the wine flowing. πŸ™‚Β Here’s their website.Β

I am so glad I joinedPostcrossing Β !Β  Its a fun way of sending and recieving postcards from all over the world. I always get so excited when I get some happy post……and what is happier than a pretty postcard. πŸ™‚ Here are some I have been sent recently. 🌏

Thanks for dropping by and thanks toΒ NatalieΒ Β for orgaizing Sunday Sevens.Β

Sunday Sevens 17th September.

There has definitely been an Autumnal feel to the past few days. I have been taking quick snapshots on my phone of the many nuts, berries and fungi I have come accross, when out with Hugo.

Some kind of fungi in a tree stump.

It’s rained cats and dogs ,but inbetween showers there are always good photo opportunities!

Hugo and Hips.

I would not trust myself with identifying whether any fungi shown are edible or poisonous ! Have you ever collected any and cooked them? I remember my sister and I picking Horse Mushrooms from the fields as youngsters and Mum created all sorts of grey gloop with them for our teas. The picking was more fun than the eating!

Below are elderberries ( edible) , Nightshade ( definitely poisonous) , Scabious flower, more fungi and new green acorns.

Wild finds in all their September glory. πŸ™‚

We have ordered a new fire and some wallpaper. Operation Living Room commences in October!  The fire is actually electric, but looks like the real thing, especially with the log storage. The wallpaper is for the alcoves and is by Minimoderns.  The Dungerness Print is actually inspired by a real place in Kent, that we would love to visit oneday.

Yesterday ticked one off the Bucket List and entered Hugo in a dog show. There weren’t many categories left when we arrived at The Wuffit Mix Fun Day , so we had a go at Best Working Dog. Not that Hugo has ever worked a day in his life!  We didn’t win but…..

we bought Hugo a big bone biscuit anyhow……x

Yum Yum.

These are my 7 photos for Sunday Sevens devised by Natalie at Threads & Bobbins.

Hawthorn’s August Scavenger Hunt.

Hey there, it’s time for another bash at Hawthorn’s Photo Scavenger Hunt.  Looking at this month’s pictures makes me realise, I have been out and about quite a bit in August. Not that I’m complaining!

1. Relaxed.  A friend’s cute Bedlington Terrier is supplied with her own cushion in the pub , on our camping trip to Ingleton.

2.  It begins with an M.  This curved sculpture on the beach in Cleveleys is called Mary’s Shell.

3.  Time For…… a delicious slab of moist ginger cake in a cute cafe bar in Sedbergh called ‘The Three Hares’.

4.  Tangerine.  Ok this photo is a bit of a stretch!  I am seeing a slight hint of tangerine colour here , in a waterfall on the Ingleton Falls Trail.

5.  It begins with an O.  The Old Fashioned Traditional Sweet Shop on Blackpool’s North Pier sells all sorts of goodies. πŸ™‚

6.  Whiskery. Ok he’s not really that whiskery, just scruffy and cute. I met this sweetie in The Three Hares in Sedbergh. His name is Tigger!

7.  Lace.  Cow Parsley in a local meadow. It’s also known as Queen Anne’s Lace.

8.  Bridge. Well how about this bridge! Ribblehead Viaduct is Europe’s longest viaduct and its in our very own Yorkshire Dales, not far from Ingleton.

9). Letters.  The letter appears prominently on these colourful Collins hardbacks in a book shop in Sedbergh. Sedbergh is a Book town in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

10.  My Own Choice. My two god daughters with their camping breakfasts. πŸ™‚

Photo An Hour Sat August 26th.

Yesterday was Photo An Hour Day on Instagram, organized by the lovely Janey and Louisa.  I joined in so here’s  some random shots from my day. πŸ™‚

8am.  Muesli and blueberries for breakfast. Trying my best to be more healthy at the moment….and have been doing pretty well, so far!

9am.  We are off on a walk, so map and waterproofs packed.

10am.  Walking through the village of Pendleton and say hello to a goat. πŸ™‚

11am.  And now walking past a campsite. It feels strange that we haven’t gone camping ourselves this bank holiday.

3pm.  Home now and the sunshine has dried all the washing, except the rag rugs.

4pm.  Slinky is making the most of the sunshine. ^^

5pm.  The widflower seeds in the flower bed are doing well….though most of them happen to be daisies!

6pm.  Straightening my hair as I’m off out later.

7pm.  A bit of light reading, from the Bridget Jones era. πŸ™‚

8pm.  In the pub with my friend Jo. Think it’s locals night!

9pm.  We get last minute tickets to a Stone Roses tribute band.

Hawthorn’s June Photo Scavenger Hunt.

Hurrah I found a Photo Scavenger Hunt recently, courtesy of Hawthorn at I Live, I love, I Craft, I am Me.  So I thought I would join in for June!  I must admit, I have borrowed a couple from the archives, on this , my first attempt. But mostly my photos were taken in the past four weeks. πŸ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Setting Sun. Crystal Cove near Tofino on Vancouver Island. Wow 11 years ago!  Oh to go again and look for bears, whales and giant woodpeckers. πŸ™‚  You can see some of my memories of Canada  here.

Local Wild Place. I guess if I am not walking the dog down the fields, my nearest local wild place is Clitheroe Castle and it’s park. I’m lucky enough to live a stones throw away, and its a great place for watching birds , squirrels and butterflies.

Mug of your favourite drink in the garden.  There is actually a drink in my mug. Honest! I wouldn’t say coffee is my favourite drink, but I certainly consume more of it than I ever used to. In fact before I met my other half ( many moons ago) , I didn’t drink coffee at all. Now I am on the hard stuff. Strong and Black! πŸ˜‰

My kind of beautiful. My beautiful nephew and niece.

Look to the skies. A holiday snap from our stay in Norfolk. Taken from the pier at Cromer. I love the slightly moody sky in this picture.

Rain. A Yellow Flag Iris covered in raindrops. This was in Norfolk too, on the Sandringham estate. A very rainy walk !

Mini Beasts. Spot the shiny green beetle. Out with Hugo on a miserable rainy afternoon, a glistening green jewel caught my eye.

Something Summery. Beautiful Beach huts at Old Hunstanton in Norfolk. I love Beach Huts!  There are not many in lovely Lancashire , though St Annes has some. The Norfolk coast has it’s fair share though. πŸ™‚

Urban Wildness.  Swans and cygnets on the canal in Skipton. πŸ™‚

My Own Choice. My family! Minus the crazy cat. Its me, Wil and Hugo outside The Golden Lion in Hunstanton, Norfolk.

If you wish to join in too in July , check out the blog link above . Catch you soon!

Sunday Sevens April 30th.

Hugo A Go Go.

I’m joining in with Natalie’s Sunday Sevens this week, sharing 7 photos from the last seven days. Above is Hugo who has been causing us a little concern recently. He tends to have a reaccurring limp in his front left leg and it has proved a mystery ,as he doesn’t seem to be in  pain. The vets suggested lead walk and restricted exercise and various meds, which we keep trying. He has also had Xrays and everything is fine joint and bone wise. Unfortunately the Xrays also showed a childs dummy in his large intestine ! A week later we are still waiting for it to pass. Dogs eh. Marley has nothing on him!

This weekend happens to be The Ribble Valley Jazz Festival and yesterday there were quite a few free performances in Clitheroe to enjoy. I’m not a jazz fan but any kind of music that gets people together and having fun is fine by me. πŸ™‚

Pancake Band.
Lydia & Bronte.

My beautiful God daughters were doing a grand job selling Jazz themed cards in Church for charity. Super sales women !

Blow Jangles.
BlueFunk Syndicate.

Today I’m actually on a Spa day at Ribby Hall , a continuation of my sister’s 4Oth Birthday Celebrations. We have all enjoyed the ‘Aqua Thermal Journey’ the outdoor hot tub and lunch. Now the girls are having treatments ( I’m wierdly not one for facials and massages) and  I am  lounging around in the relaxation suite, with views over the Zen Garden. Sweet.

Nice Robes ladies!.

Lovely Hot Chocolate!

Ribby Hall Spa.

Its been a very relaxing day…

Enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday.x

Links & Likes March. β™‘

Starlings and Hares by Rob Barnes.

Hey and welcome to March Links& Likes. I thought I would include some pretty pictures of mad March hares frolicking around with not a care in the world.  If only our lives could be as carefree as these beautiful illustrations.  Anyway without further ado….

Gina put   The Kelpies

in Falkirk on her visit list. I would love to see these Giant horse sculptures for myself.

Fancy a walk that meanders through a pub and ends with a Waterfall?  Let Jo  show you the way.

Naomi tells us about  The Joy of Gorse and how the shrub’s sunshine yellow flowers  can be made into a fresh and delicious cordial. πŸ™‚

Louise  follows in the footsteps of  Peakland writer Roger Redfern and finds that things haven’t changed all that much ,since he published his own rambles in the 1960s.

One of my favourite travel boggers ‘Mary’ from Travels with the Blonde Coyote hasn’t posted in a while, but hopefully that will all change now she’s introduced her gorgeous new dog pal ‘ Vida’. What a beauty! πŸ™‚

Erin has visited the vibrant and colourful city of Lisbon. Me too please. πŸ™‚

This fab post by Baked by Mummy Iris explores London’s Covent Garden. It looks like foodie heaven and certainly makes my tummy rumble. πŸ™‚

Hey did you know that there is a A Cat ~^^~ who actually works in B & M Bargains???  Check out this cute Kitty !

And if your planning a trip to Iceland this year , here is a very useful blog to consult I β™‘ Reykjavik.
