1. Say hello to the donkeys

I think donkeys are possibly the loveliest things ever and I’ve been a supporter of The Donkey Sanctuary for about a year now as they do such a great job with donkey welfare worldwide. I was so excited when I realised that they have a centre right here in Manchester – it’s a Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre and is open to the public 7 days a week. I went last Easter and enjoyed meeting and stroking the lovely donkeys there.

2. Take part in the duck race

Manchester’s duck race down the river Irwell takes place on Good Friday in Spinningfields. It’s free to attend and enjoy the festivities and entertainment, and just £1 to enter a duck into the race, with proceeds going to local children’s charity, Brainwave.

Teacup Pincushion

I thought I would try something a little new with my Teacups after a suggestion from a friend. Here is my first attempt at making a pincushion in a Teacup!

You Will Need :

An old Teacup
A small scrap of fabric
A needle and thread
Cotton wool stuffing
Hi Tack All Purpose Glue ( I got mine from Clitheroe market)

First draw a circle on your fabric a little more than twice the size of the top of your teacup.

Using a needle and thread sew a simple running stitch around the edge of the circle.

Then pull both thread ends tight so the fabric bunches up.

Fill the gathered fabric with cotton wool stuffing.I bought some from a needlecraft stall on Clitheroe Market.

Use Craft Glue on the inside of the cup ( in the bottom and around the lower inside.) Stick the pincushion inside!

Voila! A Tea Cup Pin Cushion! I think I should have maybe stuffed a little more stuffing in my cushion…..but not bad for a first attempt. Stick in some pins and decorate with ribbon.:-D
