Sunday Sevens 18th December.

Its  a  Christmassy Sunday Sevens this week.  If only I had some snow to show you, but its been sadly lacking in Clitheroe. And the snow I did see, whilst travelling with my friend Fi over  Pendle Hill last weekend, was beautiful if  a smidge scary. I did not want to insist that we stop her little smart car for photographic opportunitys, when we were running late for a Willow Angel weaving morning with ‘ The Willow Witch of Pendle.’ Luckily The Willow Witch was lovely about our lateness and a very patient teacher. Can you believe these Angels were constructed out of 16 bendy willow rods. Quite impressive!

There were 5 of us who took the class and we all came away with an Angel. Some more angelic than others!  I love how Louise has wrapped fairylights round the wings of hers. 🙂

After braving a snowy Pendle Hill back , Clitheroe was a bit of a non event snow wise..

Last Sunday I went to Skipton with some friends as there was a Christmas market on. Check out the festive Stilt Walkers!  And Christmas is not Christmas without an Afternoon Tea. 🙂  My lovely friend Gill had booked us into Alexander’s

, a gorgeous piano bar and restaurant on the main street. It even has a pop up Alpine Den ( very Hygge) throughout December. I want to go back!  My Goddaughter Mady brought her 2 little ones ,and we can definitely say Alexander’s is very family friendly too.

The Christmas Tree is up at last!  As you can see its laden with an eclectic  mish mash of decorations and baubles. Over the years I have collected and been gifted various bits and pieces. I am one of those people who find myself buying decs for the tree even in the middle of Summer. I once found a Christmas shop in Sorrento, Italy , in the middle of July…..and  a cherry red ‘ Bon Natalie’  bell, has graced our tree every Christmas since. 🌲

The living room is all properly decorated now , thanks to my wonderful other half. 🙂 He has proved himself brilliant at wallpapering, painting, laying the floor and tiling the hearth. I treated myself to a textured black & white cushion from Rafffia in Clitheroe,  to celebrate.

All that hard work deserves a couple of drinks down the pub. 🔥🍻

Thanks to Natalie at Threads And Bobbins for organizing Sunday Sevens.

  1. Ha ha! Christmas isn’t Christmas without an afternoon tea 🙂 Looking very Christmassy all round. Your angels are fab. I made a willow reindeer once, so I know it’s not any easy thing to do. xx

      1. Definitely amazing, given my limited skills. The lady who took the workshop i went to makes some beautiful hares – definitely think you should have a go at them. xx

  2. You’re going to think this is really silly now but do you know what I like best? – your woodburner! I’ve never liked them as they always look so stupid surrounded by huge great fireplaces or with an ugly great flue pipe going up the wall, but yours looks so small and neat and I like the wood store underneath 🙂

To be honest though, growing up in a house where the fire had to be lit each morning, then spending the first 17 years in my own home where I had to do the same, and more recently spending five days in Ireland where there was a woodburner, I think it’s a bit of a retrograde step in these modern times. If I ever did have one though it would have to be one like yours 🙂

    1. Eunice , guess what!! It is not a wood burner but a Yeoman midline Electric fire. It just looks like a burner and even has the storage for logs. It doesn’t bang out the same heat but it is much easier to keep clean! We love woodburners on hols but having one full time might ruin the romantic image. Xxx

  3. I love your angel. It’s so nice to make a lovely decoration that you can display in your home year after year. We have a pretty good covering of snow here in Ottawa, it will be a white Christmas for sure unless we have a pretty good warm snap this week!

    1. Thank you. I will definitely bring it out again. 🙂 Ohhh I am so jealous of your snow. Raining buckets here today! Please post some snowy pics on your blog. A mug of steaming tea in the snow ~ sounds like a post. 😁. X

      1. I live in an apartment so the snowy scenery is not great…and having said that about a warm snap they are calling for rain on Tuesday and next Saturday. Hard to believe it will warm up that much, because today the temperature is around -20 C.

      1. We even have some tree baubles from when my children where small – and they’re in the second half of their twenties now 😀

  4. lovely stories 🙂 We have had a fair bit of snow, only really going now that we have had rain. I should visit Clitheroe again some time, not been for about 6 – 8 months and it was in warmer weather and we pootled up the main street then into the castle and gardens 🙂

  5. You christmas tree looks lovely. I’m not having one this year… still so busy renovating, there aren’t enough hours in my days and I have enough to do without sorting a tree… bah humbug!!

    Your angel looks good too.
